Supercritical Co2 as Solvent for Extraction of Fungal Metabolites
نویسندگان
چکیده
Fungi produce a diverse array of metabolites – small molecules that are not necessary for normal growth or development. Some are exploited for their antibiotic and pharmaceutical activities; others are involved in disease interactions with plants or animals and are better known as mycotoxins. Supercritical fluid extraction, especially with supercritical CO2 as an environmentally safe extraction medium, received a lot of attention in the 1990s. In our study, supercritical CO2 was used to obtain metabolites from Wallemia sebi, better known as the food spoilage fungus. The results of our study revealed that SC CO2 can be successfully applied as solvent for extraction of fungal metabolites. Due to the simplicity of the method, SC CO2 seems to be suitable solvent for the extraction of high quantities of biologically active metabolite from W. sebi for further identification.

Sub and Supercritical Decontamination of Oil-Based Drill Cuttings: A Review
Drill mud is a fluid which is used in oil extraction industries in order to cool and lubricate the drill bit. Due to containing numerous toxic components, it is considered as a hazardous waste which must be treated before discharging to the environment. Current separation techniques for drill cutting treatment can be categorized into three main categories of physical (dewatering), physiochemica...

In this study, the diffusivity and volumetric mass transfer coefficients for the extraction of β-carotene from crude palm oil using CO2 solvent in supercritical fluid were determined in the pressure range of 7.5-17.5 MPa and temperature range of 80-120 ºC. For this purpose, a statistical method was applied in order to minimize the number of experiments required. The volumetric ma...
متن کاملSupercritical Fluid Extraction of Lovastatin from the Wheat Bran Obtained after Solid-State Fermentation
The objective of the present work is to extract lovastatin with minimum impurity by using supercritical carbon dioxide (SC-CO2). A strain of Aspergillus terreus UV 1617 was used to produce lovastatin by solid-state fermentation (SSF) on wheat bran as a solid substrate. Extraction of lovastatin and its hydroxy acid form was initially carried out using organic solvents. Among the different screen...
